What is Teleradiology?
Teleradiology is the process of transmitting radiological images, such as CT scans, digitized X-rays, MRIs, and ultrasounds, from one location to another. This enables radiologists and physicians in different locations to access and interpret these studies, even if they are not physically present where the images were captured. By facilitating remote analysis, teleradiology ensures that noninvasive diagnostic studies can be reviewed promptly.
This approach is particularly valuable when specialized expertise is required, such as that of MRI radiologists, neuroradiologists, pediatric radiologists, or musculoskeletal radiologists. Since these specialists are often concentrated in large urban centers and primarily work during regular business hours, teleradiology bridges the gap by providing access to their expertise around the clock, ensuring patients receive timely and accurate diagnoses no matter where they are.
